How to make chapati?
Chapati is a popular unleavened flatbread that is commonly eaten in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and other countries in the South Asian region. It is made from whole wheat flour and water, and is often served with curry, vegetables, or other dishes.
Here's a recipe for making chapati:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Mix well.
Add the water a little at a time, stirring the flour mixture until a dough forms. The dough should be soft and pliable.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Divide the dough into 8-10 equal portions.
Roll each portion of the dough into a ball and flatten slightly with your hands.
Dust a rolling board with flour and roll each ball into a thin circle, about 6-7 inches in diameter.
Heat a griddle or a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Place a chapati on the griddle and cook for 20-30 seconds or until bubbles start to form on the surface.
Flip the chapati over and cook for another 20-30 seconds or until brown spots appear on the underside.
Remove the chapati from the griddle and brush with vegetable oil.
Repeat the process with the remaining dough portions.
Your chapatis are now ready to be served hot with your favorite curry or vegetable dish!
